STOP BARBARIC ACTS

As the year comes to an end, some evil minded individuals are trying to create havoc by engaging in acts of cowardice like lobbing grenades at innocent people. The criminals who threw grenades at a bar in Huye on Christmas Day and a few weeks before, should be ashamed of these evil acts. The Rwanda we want for the future of our children is not a Rwanda of terror. It is simply pointless and an act of cowardice for one to inflict pain on innocent masses in the name of trying to settle some scores.

If there are any grievances to settle, there are more democratic and civilized ways of solving them than engaging in malevolent acts of targeting innocent people in public places.

The use of terror to attract attention or intimidate people is simply an act of cowardice that has never succeeded anywhere.  And today’s Rwanda cannot be shaken by these evil deeds.

It is everyone’s responsibility, not Police or the military alone, to ensure that such people are identified and uprooted from our communities.  And should the Huye culprits be apprehended, let them face full wrath of the law.

As the festive season goes on, the need to be more vigilant becomes even greater in the face of such acts as seen in Huye.

Though Rwandans should not be intimidated, they need to be conscious about some criminally minded characters, eager to spoil the celebratory mood that comes along during this time.

It’s not by accident that Rwanda is regarded as one of the safest countries on the continent and nothing will take this away from us.
