Rwanda’s football body, Ferwafa has postponed the election date for the new executive committee to January 2, 2010. Initially, elections were scheduled to be held this morning at Laico hotel. Ferwafa Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa told Times Sport yesterday that the elections have been pushed forward after several aspirants failed to meet required conditions for different posts.

Ferwafa Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa told Times Sport yesterday that the elections have been pushed forward after several aspirants failed to meet required conditions for different posts.
"Some aspirants (unidentified) failed to meet basic requirements for different posts. We have since called on willing people to re-apply for those posts not later than Thursday, January 31,” Kalisa said.
However, Kalisa could not name the posts which will be re-applied for and the identities of the aspirants who fell short of basic requirements.
The elections will be held during the federation’s extra-ordinary general assembly which will also tackle several other issues concerning local football.
Posts up for grabs include; president, vice president, treasurer, technical commission, commission for security, arbitrary and Fair Play, competitions & discipline Commission, finance and marketing, commission for women football and commission for youth football development.
The outgoing Ferwafa boss, Brig. Gen. Jean Bosco Kazura is yet to confirm his interest of contending for the top seat again. Kazura assumed Ferwafa’s top seat in 2005 after an overwhelming 100% win against Emmanuel Ngango.
Other out-going executive committee members include, vice president Veduste Kayiranga, treasurer-Bernard Itangishaka, Eugene Rukundo (technical commission), assistant commissioner of police Steven Balinda (commission for security), arbitrary and Fair Play), Boniface Nsabimana (Competitions & Discipline Commission) and Raoul Gisanura (Finance and Marketing).
Some of Kazura’s achievements include; starting up the Amavubi football academy, hosting the 2009 U-20 African Youth Championship and winning the rights to host the 2011 U-17 African Youth Championship.
His administration’s low points included failure to qualify Rwanda to the 2008 and 2010 Nations Cup finals.
