Labama Bokota turned on style as he steered APR to a 4-1 rout of AS Kigali in the national league game played yesterday at Nyamirambo stadium on a day Etincelles assumed temporary leadership at the summit of the league table with 16 points.

Etincelles continued their early season fine form, beating their local rivals Marines 2-1 in a Gisenyi derby at Umuganda stadium.

At Nyamirambo, the DR Congo born Rwandan international put the champions ahead with a quick brace on 52nd and 60th minutes before setting up two more for Kabange Twite on the 65th and 80th minutes.

It was a game of two halves for the former Rayon Sport marksman, who had a poor first half but returned after the break in a completely different mood.

Bokota netted his first goal when he tapped in Leon Xavier Cedric’s inch perfect free kick.

The veteran striker dribbling nicely past AS Kigali defender Egide Kayiranga before beating goalie Mohamoud Mossi for his second goal.

Former Amavubi Stars keeper, Moussi kept his side in the game with a couple of fine saves in each half. He denied Abbas Rassou on four clear chances when one on one.

Man of the match, Bokota undid Kayiranga with some neat dribbling skill to create Kabange’s first and APR’s third goal, and again Bogota turned provider with a perfect through ball for the latter to score APR’s fourth goal.

Emmanuel Ingabire scored the consolation for Eric Nshimiyimana’s side, which had put up a good show in the first half but were brushed aside by a more experienced APR side in the second period.

Bokota’s brace took his tally for the season to five goals, one better than Police striker Roger Tchouassi.

Rayon vs Atraco

League action continues today when Kagame Cup and MTN peace Cup holders Atraco take on rivals Rayon Sport.

Rayon are in turmoil and their players, who have not been paid their salaries for the last two months had threatened not to play until the club finds a solution to their problem.

Coach Jean Baptista Kayiranga doubts his team’s chances of attaining maximum points against the 2008 league champions if his players are not fit enough (psychologically).

Sam Timbe’s Atraco will be without Rwandan international left full back Donatien Tuyizere, who is suspended.
