Finally some action on the Leadership Code

The Ombudsman,Tito Rutaremara, has cracked the whip on errant leaders

Editor,

Although I should be feeling the Christmas good cheer and have love towards all me, I was very happy to find out that the Government had announced the immediate suspension of 56 civil servants for failing to declare their wealth on time and in some cases, under-declaring their assets.

I had advocated for punitive measures for a long time and when the suspensions were finally announced on Thursday afternoon by the Minister of Labour and Public Service, Anastase Murekezi and the Ombudsman, Tito Ritaremara, I breathed a sigh of relief.

The mere fact that these officials simply refused to heed the law makes me feel that they deserve every punishment they receive.

In fact, giving an official either a one month suspension with out pay or a two month suspension without pay is a bit lenient in my view.

I believe that they should have simply lost their jobs.
