Wilson Karasira is the president of the National Youth Council in the Red Cross Rwanda (RCR) in Huye district. Below is his typical working day.

I wake up at 6a.m and say a prayer. After I have had breakfast, I head to Butare town to start on the day’s program.

My responsibility comprises monitoring RCR youth activities and leading sensitization sessions that help the vulnerable people.

I visit different groups of people, depending on the program and need. This may be based on programs in place or others which are about to start.

I have lunch at 1p.m and rest for an hour. In the evening, I join Siloam Anglican church choir until 6p.m.

At 6:30, I go to an internet café to check if I have mail.
This is also aimed at getting informed that may be from different groups and communication from my bosses. This gives me a clue on what to include on the next day’s agenda.

I get home; have supper and a prayer before I get to bed at around 9p.m
