Kagame starts ministries’ visits

KACYIRU - President Paul Kagame yesterday began evaluating his ministries in a bid to have a feel of the working environment of their staff.

The visit kicked off with the Ministry of Education where he met with various directors and the Minister Dr Jeanne d’Arc Mujawamariya.

 "We told the President what we have achieved and some of our challenges and he advised us accordingly as the Head of State,” Mujawamariya told journalists after the President’s tour.

She said that President Kagame lectured directors in the ministry about ownership of work and requested them to increase on their productivity. Journalists were not allowed to in during the visit.

The minister said: "Education is a key to development of the nation that is why the President had to put the ministry first on the list of those he will be visiting.”

The Minister of Infrastructure Stanislas Kamanzi and his other Cabinet colleagues were present.

Mujawamariya said that President Kagame requested Minister Kamanzi to speed up the renovation of the Ministry of Education premises.

The Cabinet Minister in the Office of the President, Solina Nyirahabimana said that Kagame would visit all 14 ministries.

"It is the first visit of the kind he is doing in the recent history as the Head of State.

The purpose of this kind of visit is for him to have a feel of the working environment of the ministries’ staff, meet with the employees and top managers and discuss with them their challenges in work vis-à-vis their productivity,” Nyirahabimana said.

She however did not reveal the next ministry to be visited.
