Aquasantec International Limited has been recognized among Africa’s top sustainability leaders, earning third place in the "Beyond Sustainability” category at the Beyond Awards 2025, held during the Sustainability and ESG Africa Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa, on October 30.
The annual awards recognize organizations making an outstanding transformative, measurable, and scalable impact in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices across the continent.
Aquasantec’s recognition places it among the only two East African organizations acknowledged this year, a testament to its leadership and commitment to sustainability-driven business operations.
"For us, sustainability is not a department but it is a way of doing business,” said Kalpesh Patel, CEO, Aquasantec International Limited. "Our work begins with people – from building local skills and empowering communities to designing solutions that respect our environment.”
Driving impact through innovation and inclusion
Aquasantec International is a regional leader in providing basic need solutions across water, sanitation, agriculture, and industry. Headquartered in Mauritius, the Group operates through subsidiaries in Kenya (Kentainers Ltd), Uganda (Crestanks Ltd), Rwanda (Aquasan Ltd), and Zambia (Afritank Ltd).
With a moulding capacity of over 12,000 tons annually and extrusion capacity exceeding 15,000 tons, the company’s diverse product portfolio includes water tanks, underground tanks, drums, pipes, septic tanks, grain silos, and pallets, all designed to promote access to safe water and sustainable resource management.
"Every product we make, he explained, every pipe we install is a commitment to dignity, access to water, and opportunity for families across Africa.”
"We dedicate this recognition to our people, partners, customers, and communities across Africa. Together, we continue to go beyond, for people, for the planet, for prosperity,” he added.
Embedding ESG at the core of business
Aquasantec’s approach to sustainability goes beyond compliance since the company integrates ESG principles into its design, production, and community engagement strategies, focusing on renewable materials, energy efficiency, and social empowerment through local employment and skills development.
The CEO pointed out that in today’s world where businesses face mounting climate risks, growing inequality, and declining trust in institutions, Aquasantec views ESG not as an option but as essential.
"It is the foundation that drives the company’s resilience, fuels innovation, and ensures long-term value creation,” he said.
Regional recognition for quality and excellence
Earlier this month, Aquasantec’s subsidiaries — Kentainers (Kenya), Crestanks (Uganda), and Aquasan (Rwanda) — were awarded the Quality Seal of Excellence at the East Africa Brand Quality Awards in Kampala, Uganda. The accolade recognized their commitment to superior product standards, customer satisfaction, and sustainable manufacturing.
These achievements collectively affirm Aquasantec’s position as a pioneer in sustainable manufacturing and social impact across Africa, further strengthening its leadership in ESG transformation through innovation, inclusion, and environmental stewardship.
