As part of celebrations to mark the end of the 16-day activism to campaign against Gender Based Violence (GBV), students from different universities gathered at Kigali Independent University (ULK) and agreed to support campaigns that uproot this vice. 

The students are mainly members of the association that brings together gender officials in the guild bodies of all the universities.

The function also involved a competition that saw students compete in composing poems and plays aimed at exposing the dangers of GBV.

Each winner walked away with Rwf50,000.

Julienne Umuhoza the chairperson of the students’ body said that they will embark on promoting gender equality and GBV fight in the Rwandan society and promote human rights especially of women and children.

Dr Alphonse Ngangi, the Rector of ULK challenged the student to be good ambassadors wherever they go, saying that they were better placed to do the job.

The function also brought in representatives from Pro- Femme Twese Hamwe, the Gender Ministry, UNFPA, and Rwanda Defence Forces’ Gender Desk.
