The Mayor of Kigali City Dr Aisa Kirabo, yesterday hit hard at district leaders within the City over poor service delivery and emphasized the need for immediate improvements.

She said this during the open day for accountability that took place at Nyamirambo Regional Stadium as Kigali City residents presented their problems and sought redress before the mayor.

"We still have a problem of customer care and poor service delivery,” she said emphasizing that land issues most expose the loopholes in administration.

Felicien Ndiwayezu, one of the residents decried the slow pace of the notarization process.

"There is a problem of delays in the notification process. They keep telling us to go back so many times but never provide the services on time,” he complained. The Mayor promised the residents that they were going to devise a way of fast-tracking the rate at which the notaries work.
Some of the problems singled out by residents included cases of insecurity in some parts of the city that have escalated.

"Despite putting road side lights during late hours in the night on the road from Kinamba to Nyarutarama, people are being robbed and killed,” revealed Nduwayezu.

Kirabo lashed out at the sector leadership for not sensitizing the residents on the expected housing construction standards prescribed by the city.

She ordered Willy Ndizeye, acting Mayor of Gasabo to compile a report on the consistent land issues rising from his district.
