Parliamentarians from the Great Lakes Region are holding their second strategic planning workshop under Amani Forum beginning today at La Palisse Hotel.

The workshop, scheduled to end December 2, is part of the efforts to develop a five-year strategic plan for engaging MPs in peace building and conflict mitigation in the region.
The forum’s executive committee chairpersons of the seven National Chapters from Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia are attending the workshop.

Amani Forum has been undertaking a process of strategic planning aimed at defining the organisation’s strategy for 2008-2012.

The group was created to help bring about peace and security in the region that has historically suffered brutal wars and genocide.
