Editor,

When I heard that the governments of Rwanda and France had decided to renew their diplomatic relations, I was very pleased.  And as a sign of the normalized relations between the two countries, the government has just appointed a new Ambassador to Paris, Jacques Kabare.

This appointment comes barely a month after both countries agreed to restore diplomatic relations that had been severed three years ago.

Personally, I’m particularly happy because one of my favorite haunts, the French Cultural Centre in the middle of Kigali city will, once again, open for business.

I watched many a play, movie or art exhibition in that place. And I would certainly like to reacquaint myself with that place. I hope they open their doors quickly.
