What a scandal!

Editor,

When I read yesterday’s article about the female student at Kigali Institute of Management (KIM), who allegedly petitioned the university’s top governing body, the senate, to intervene in a case where her lecturer doctored her marks downwards because she turned down his sexual advances, I was shocked.

Whether or not the lecturer is found guilty is irrelevant; the fact that something like that can even come up gives me the jitters.

I studied at the National University of Rwanda a few years back, and I heard similar stories, but they just remained rumours.

But for a student to come forward and get the senate involved doesn’t give me confidence in KIM. It means that there might be a real problem. I hope that the Ministry of Education gets involved in finding out the truth behind this scandal.
