2009 KAGAME Cup winners Atraco need thorough preparations to progress to the money-spilling rounds of next year’s Africa Confederations Cup.

Atraco head coach Sam Timbe told Times Sport on phone from Kampala that although his club has drawn a fairly beatable side in Al Amal of Sudan, the success of the team highly depends on the preparations.

"My major concern is the preparation of my team. If we have good preparations, we shall have a good chance in the Confederations Cup,” Timbe said.

The ex-Cranes international is however cynical about his players’ team’s stand in the African tourney.

"It is a bit worrying for us because most of the players are on a break so they are down physically. We also have to deal with John Bagoole’s issue,” Timbe added.
Bagoole has been linked with a move to Vita club, one of DRC’s top sides.

"We have to work extremely hard with the team we have if we are to progress past the preliminary rounds.”

The taxi-men side face Sudanese club Al Amal in the preliminary round of the 7th African Confederation Cup on February 12-14 in Kigali before playing the return leg in Khartoum a fortnight later.

Last year, Atraco had a poor run in the Champions league after falling to Sudanese El Merreikh in the preliminary round.

The winner between Atraco and Al Amal will face the winner between Costa do Sol (Mozambique) and Flamingo Santos (Botswana) in the 1/16th round.

Mali’s Stade Malien is the defending champions of the Orange CAF Confederation.
