Dressing for success

We spend more than half of everyday at the workplace.  It is imperative that we look our best while there.  During our time at work, we meet people from various backgrounds some of whom may determine how we fare on the corporate ladder. The world is getting more and more visual. As such, you are judged on how you look, even before you get a chance to share from your intelligence.

You may have the right resume and a smart head on your shoulders but if you choose a sloppy look, you may not be taken seriously.  Vain as it may sound, appearances really matter, so put your best foot forward

It may take care and a little investment in your wardrobe to achieve a look that is both great and professional. This doesn’t mean that you have to spend the rest of your life locked under a jacket and tie.

Aside from the traditional jacket and the tie, there is such a thing as business casual. Khakis and sports shirts are a sure way of achieving a professional look without sacrificing comfort.

Ladies, you have a wide variety of style to choose from and still look professional. From suits to office skirts, trousers put together with an appropriate blouse to a dress matched with a good jacket will leave a lasting impression on those you meet every day.

Investing in a good skirt and trouser, preferably black can be a life saver on those mornings when you are totally unsure of what to wear. Black comes handy because it easily fits in with other colors.

In your endeavor to look great and chic, ladies are hereby advised not to overdo it. With this whole boob era in vogue, please avoid the excess cleavage look. You do not want to attract the wrong kind of attention. Appropriate dressing will create level competing ground with your male counterparts in the board room.

As we strive to look great, we should not neglect hygiene.
• No one wants to see dandruff slowly crawling into your face.
• Dirt under your finger nails and very long finger nails is a no, no.

• Guys, please keep the socks clean.
• Your teeth are of paramount importance.
•  Deodorants do not cost much but they can save the day.

Finally attitude is everything. The way you carry yourself and the way you treat others speaks volumes.  Wear a smile it is the best accessory and leave the diva and macho attitude to kanye west.  See you at the top!
