International Finance Corporation’s leasing program in Rwanda extending to more Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) , according to officials.

Atete Rugege, Operations Analyst with the leasing program revealed that IFC will endeavor to identify with the leasing needs of every nature of SME.

"We want to consider mostly SMEs. There won’t be any rigorous review of the financial cash flow,” she said.

She added that after finding out that the biggest part of Rwanda’s business sector comprises of SMEs they devised a way of effectively extending to them the leasing component.

IFC started a leasing program in 2007.

Following the findings of a report released by IFC on the state of leasing in Rwanda, it was found that Agriculture sector on which the largest part of the population depends  had the least leasing and 90 percent took place in Kigali City.

She said with the statistics,  there is a need to evenly spread out leasing to beyond the city and mostly in the agricultural sector.
