MUHANGA – One person died instantly and two others were seriously injured after a wall of a house they were constructing caved in.

The incident happened yesterday morning in Ruvumera village, in Nyamabuye sector Muhanga district.

The deceased was identified as Emmanuel Nahimana, 45, while the injured whose names were not readily available by press time were transported to Kabgayi Hospital for medical attention.

According to other workers on the site, the accident was due to negligence and failure to adhere to construction safety measures.

"The wall collapsed because we were digging underneath, yet it was clear that it had been weakened by rain. I just survived by chance,” one eye witness said.

Police arrested Ndungutse Segaharara, the owner of the house and a couple of builders to assist with investigations.
