THE FIBA-Africa Club Championship sometimes referred to as the FIBA Africa Clubs Champions Cup is the highest caliber men’s basketball competition for clubs, organized by FIBA Africa and played by champions of different national leagues on the continent.

The first edition, which dates back in 1972, was won by Red Star of Central African Republic. Senegal’s AS Forces Armées dominated the tournament in the late 1980s and early 1990s while Angola’s Primeiro de Agosto has dominated proceedings over the last nine years.

Since 2002 when the tournament became annual, Primeiro de Agosto has bagged five titles while arch-rivals Petro Atletico of Angola and Ivory Coast’s Abidjan basketball club have both won once.
