THE 3rd CAF Medical Congress organised by the continental football body starts this morning at Laico hotel in Kigali.

CAF officials present include Adoum Djibrine, Egyptian Hosny Abdel Rahman, Zakia Bartagui (Tunisian), James Sekajugo (Uganda), M.E. Moola (South Africa), Liliou Francis (Burkina Faso), Yacine Zerguini (Algeria) and Victor Ramathesele (South Africa).

Officials from Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Health Organization, the English Football Association and  COCAN 2010 are also participating in the event where the most prominent medical specialists in football gather to present the latest medical research in relation to preparation of teams, players, and prevention of injuries, diseases and malnutrition.

Topics to be touched on include; infections, immunity & nutrition in sports, pre- competition medical assessment, sports injuries and doping control. The theme of the congress is "African Football against Hunger’.

The congress is held every two years.
