Last week at Kigali Golf Club Nyarutarama, Macmillan sponsored a children and youth tournament. Children between the ages of 5 to 15 participated in the tournament.

Great thanks go to Macmillan Rwanda for having thought of promoting the young people in sports. Children need to be helped to explore their God given talents.

Sports help young people to grow healthy and physically fit. A child who does sports is not likely to fall sick often; he or she will always be free from minor diseases like flue among others.

Sports should be encouraged in school so that children grow up into physically stable people. Sports education is not meant for only children who are physically normal, disabled children have talents too.

They should be helped to develop their talents too because disability is not inability. Research shows that parents with disabled children tend to neglect their children.

This tendency of neglecting disabled children should be fought against. Children with different disabilities are like other children.

They need to be helped to develop their talents in music, drama and sports among others. Children with disabilities should not be seen as people with no value. Let us work together to bring the best out of our children as far as sports is concerned.
