Rwanda’s Moise Mugisha will not compete in the Men’s Elite Road Race at the 2025 UCI Road World Championships on Sunday after being ruled out due to a dental infection.
He has been replaced by Patrick Byukusenge.

Rwanda Cycling Federation (FERWACY) confirmed the change on Thursday, noting that Mugisha was taken to hospital where doctors recommended surgery, making him unfit to train or race.
"In Tour du Rwanda 2025, Moise Mugisha badly injured his two front teeth but continued racing as usual. However, this week the situation became more serious to the point that he could not even train,” a statement from the federation read.

Mugisha, who specialises in road cycling, had earlier represented Rwanda in the Men’s Elite Individual Time Trial at the championships, finishing 31st.
He has also competed in stage races such as Tour du Rwanda and the National Road Championships this season.
Team Rwanda will now line up with six riders, including Byukusenge, in Sunday’s Men’s Elite Road Race.
Also on the team are Eric Manizabayo, Vainqueur Masengesho, Eric Nkundabera, Shemu Nsengiyumva, and Eric Muhoza.
