The US deputy Ambassador to Rwanda, Anne Casper, has said that Rwanda will continue to benefit from the United States Government due to the strong relations that exist between the two countries.

She said this while opening a one-week workshop that was organized by the American Peace Corps that is aimed at encouraging young girls to grow into responsible citizens and leaders.

Casper said that Rwanda’s achievements and ambitions to overhaul the socio-economic lifestyle of her citizens was one of the reasons her country has maintained close ties.

"Rwandans are lucky to have a visionary leader in President Paul Kagame, whose ideas are simply admirable” she said stressing that the Obama administration is ready to offer any assistance to Rwanda.

The workshop is organized by Peace Corps volunteers and sponsored by the American government through the US embassy in Kigali.

It commenced yesterday and has attracted about 100 female students from different schools in the country who are expected to become the strong voice for others upon completion of the training.

The participants were urged to utilize the training by sharing knowledge with both their American and Rwandan facilitators.

The Director General of Peace Corps-Rwanda, John Reddy, said that serving in Rwanda is worthwhile, stressing that he has had a wonderful time in the country since last year when the Corps were re-launched in Rwanda, 15 years after they had left.

He called upon the youth to work hard for their future through fighting against the HIV/AIDS scourge in schools.
