RwandAir has urged passengers travelling through Kigali International Airport to plan ahead as road closures and diversions continue during the UCI Road World Championships, taking place in Kigali from September 20 to 28, 2025.

The airline said the closures linked to the cycling event are affecting traffic flow across the city and could delay journeys to the airport.

Travellers are advised to confirm accessible routes before setting out and to allow extra time for the trip.

Check-in times remain unchanged, with domestic flights opening three hours before departure and closing one hour prior, while international flights open four hours before departure and close an hour and a half before.

"RwandAir appreciates the cooperation of passengers and wishes them safe travels,” the airline said.

This is the first time that the UCI Road World Championships is coming to Africa, with Kigali hosting the 2025 edition.

The event is drawing hundreds of riders and teams, with projections to reach over 330 million viewers worldwide.
