The General Assembly of the National Consultative Forum of Political Organisations (NFPO) on Thursday, September 18, elected a new bureau for a six-month term.

The handover ceremony took place on Friday, September 19, with MP Alice Muzana from the Social Democratic Party (PSD) taking over as spokesperson, replacing MP Christine Mukabunani of PS Imberakuri.
Muzana will be deputised by Dieudonné Nsengiyumva from the Centrist Democratic Party for Progress and Concord (PPC). He replaces Balinda Rutebuka of the Liberal Party (PL).
According to the Forum’s guidelines, the two positions must be held by members of different political parties and should ensure gender representation, with one male and one female.

Muzana, who heads the Committee on Land, Agriculture, Livestock, and Environment in the Parliament, assumed the position unopposed after being proposed by her peers.
In her remarks, she expressed gratitude to fellow members for the confidence placed in her and her deputy, pledging to strengthen the forum’s role.
"We assure you of continued cooperation, with the main goal of serving all 11 political parties and safeguarding democracy,” Muzana said.
"We will remain committed to the Forum’s mandate of contributing to the country’s vision, strengthening democracy, and supporting national development pillars.”

In their farewell remarks, the outgoing leaders commended the spirit of teamwork that enabled the Forum to achieve its objectives during their tenure.
