Family survives grenade attack

MUSANZE – A woman and her four children narrowly escaped death after a grenade was thrown into their house by unknown assailants while they were asleep on Monday night in Muko sector, Musanze district. Francine Nyirarwangano, the children’s mother said the attacker detonated the grenade and threw it into her house through a window, but it failed to explode.

MUSANZE – A woman and her four children narrowly escaped death after a grenade was thrown into their house by unknown assailants while they were asleep on Monday night in Muko sector, Musanze district.

Francine Nyirarwangano, the children’s mother said the attacker detonated the grenade and threw it into her house through a window, but it failed to explode.

Nyirarwangano, suspects that the attackers were hired by her mother in law with whom they have had land disputes. She claimed she has had a sour relationship with her mother in law ever since she lost her husband in 1998. 

"She has attempted to kill me three times,’’ she said. 
Police confirmed the incident, saying three people identified as Gaspard Bibutsa, Damascene Makuza and the woman’s mother in law, Beatrice Mukanyana, have been arrested and detained at Muhoza Police Station.

Police spokesperson, Supt. Eric Kayiranga said that investigations are still going on.
