KARONGI/RUTSIRO – The ongoing construction of classrooms for the 9-year Basic Education program in the western region has been described as impressive and successful.

Most of the schools in the districts of Karongi and Rutsiro have almost reached roofing stages with most of the manpower coming from the local population.

Innocent Kabengera, head teacher, Groupe Scholaire de Kibuye said the construction of the classes would not have been possible without the contribution of the students and parents.

Kabengera said that the classrooms in his school will be complete in the next three weeks and will be ready for school by January – the start of the new academic year.

Michel Mulindankiko, the Karongi district education director and Emerance Ayinkamiye the Rutsiro district education director referred to the progress in construction in their districts as "tremendous”.
