Maj Gen Vincent Nyakarundi, the Rwanda Defence Force Army Chief of Staff, along with Commissioner of Police Vincent Sano, the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, on Monday, September 15, bid farewell to the Rwanda Security Forces contingent that departed from Kigali International Airport for Cabo Delgado, Mozambique.

The contingent will relieve their colleagues who have completed a one-year mission in the province.

The Rwanda Security Forces (RSF) will be under the command of Maj Gen Vincent Gatama, who will replace Maj Gen Emmy Ruvusha, who took over as Joint Task Force Commander in September 2024.

Since 2021, at the request of the Mozambican government, Rwanda has deployed troops to Cabo Delgado province to help combat ISIS-linked terrorism and insecurity.
