Elections for the National Olympic Committee new leadership are scheduled to be held this morning at Amahoro stadium main conference hall, starting at 9 o’clock.

Former Sports minister Robert Bayigamba and Rwanda Tennis Federation (RTF) president Charles Rudakubana are vying for the post of president.

After a week of intensive campaigning, NOC interim president Aimable Bayingana expects an incident free exercise.

"Everything is in place to have a clean election exercise. We have put in place whatever is required for an incident free exercise.

"The rules are very clear, the candidates have had time to campaign and the ground is ready for everything,” Bayingana told Sunday Times yesterday.

Phophina Muhimpundu Gashugi (ARDEMES) and Theogene Uwayo are in contention for the post of 1st vice president, while Elie Manirora (NPC-Rwanda), Jean Paul Munyandamutsa (athletics federation) and David Mucyesha are vying for the 2nd vice presidency post.

Parfait Busabizwa, Alex Mbaraga and Leo Pierre Nkusi are standing for the post of Secretary General while Thierry Rwabusaza (Cycling federation) and Alain Christian Sekuru are competing for the post of treasurer.
