Fifty teachers Friday received certificates from the Technical and Vocational Schools Association (TEVSA) in Rwanda after two weeks’ training in various disciplines. 

During the award ceremony, John Gaga, the Chairman of TEVSA, congratulated the participants, and said the training was a measure of maintaining and improving the standard and performance of Technical and Vocational schools in the country.

"Training trainers, is among TEVSA plans of ensuring that vocational and technical schools provide quality skills to the learners,” he said.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, Stephen Mbarushimana, one of the trainees and a teacher
 at ETM 11 and GS ADB Nyarutarama, said the training had a tremendous impact, not only on him alone, but on his students as well.

"Automotive Mechanics works with developments in technology. I therefore benefited from being exposed to advancements in the field of my study which will also benefit my students,” Mbarushimana noted.

The training at SOS Technical High School, Kagugu in Gasabo district was conducted by experts from Germany organized by TEVSA, in partnership with GTZ and DED, non-governmental organizations supporting technical education.

The teachers came from different training institutions in the country including ETO Muhima, ETAG in Gesenyi, ETO Gitarama, and IT Hanika in Nyanza, among others.
