Rwanda National Police, on Friday, September 12, said they launched a manhunt for three men captured in a video assaulting and injuring a woman in Nyarugenge District.

The police said the incident happened on Thursday, September 11, in Rwampara Cell, Nyarugenge Sector of Nyarugenge District.

Video footage circulated on social media shows the suspects during the night snatching the victim’s belongings before one of them strikes her with what looks like a machete.

One of the suspects has been arrested and the police are still hunting for the ohers, the police said.

"We assure the public that we are doing everything possible to ensure they are arrested,” the police said in a statement on Friday morning.

After the incident, the victim was taken to Rwampara Health Centre for treatment. She has been discharged and is at her home, the police spokesperson in the City of Kigali Wellars Gahonzire told The New Times on Friday morning.
