GISAGARA - Health Minister, Dr Richard Sezibera has called upon women to embrace nation building and forge a shared development agenda in order to achieve economic empowerment.

Officiating at the opening of women civic education ‘Itorero’ in Gisagara district yesterday, Sezibera said nation building efforts have to be owned by all the citizens of the country.

"Nation building requires concerted efforts and a shared belief. As women you need to have a vision and a shared development agenda to move this country forward,” he said.

The Minister noted that Itolero as an informal education institution has its roots from the country’s rich cultural heritage. He added that the institution was important in promoting Rwandan values before the advent of colonialism.

According to Beatrice Mukagashonga, the vice president of the National Women Council, the training will emphasise the role of women in development.

The Provincial Governor, Fidèle Ndayisaba called upon women to manage well their homes, saying "stable families ensure a stable nation.”

The over 400 participants were drawn from all the eight districts of the province. They are expected to train other women after the three-week training programme being held in Save Sector.
