Children rights mentors get bicycles

HUYE – The African Evangelistic Enterprise (AEE) has donated bicycles to 14 children rights mentors’ operating in Huye district. The bicycles were handed over on Thursday during celebrations to mark ‘open day for children organized by AEE. During the celebrations, children flanked by their parents entertained the audience with songs, dance, drama, and poems carrying messages of child rights.

HUYE – The African Evangelistic Enterprise (AEE) has donated bicycles to 14 children rights mentors’ operating in Huye district.

The bicycles were handed over on Thursday during celebrations to mark ‘open day for children organized by AEE.

During the celebrations, children flanked by their parents entertained the audience with songs, dance, drama, and poems carrying messages of child rights.

"Our aim is to make every one aware of children rights, so as to guard against child abuse,” said Augustine Gahamanyi, AEE coordinator in the district.  

"The mentors will play a vital role in reaching out to their local communities with a message about the protection of children’s rights.”

The official explained that the donation is an incentive and means of transport to help in the child rights campaign.

"This donation will go a long in easing our work of promoting children rights,” said Antoinette Umubyeyi, one of the beneficiaries.

Cassius Karihangabo, a legal officer from Haguruka Association noted that protecting children’s rights should be everyone’s duty.

Jean Baptiste Mutabaruka, the Executive Secretary of Huye sector, hailed AEE initiative, saying it compliments other local government efforts.
