Rwandan artistes Ariel Wayz and Babo Ekeight are in police custody over alleged drug use, police spokesperson ACP Boniface Rutikanga has confirmed.
"Yes, they are under custody,” ACP Rutikanga told The New Times.

The arrest, it is alleged, follows an incident in which the two musicians, along with several friends, were found breaching night-time regulations. Subsequent drug tests conducted on the two, after their arrest, reportedly returned positive.
They are detained at Remera Police Station, a source close to one of the artistes involved in the case.

Ariel Wayz is considered one of Rwanda’s leading female musicians. She rose to prominence after graduating from Nyundo Music School in 2016. Since then, she has released two Extended Plays: Love & Lust, launched on December 10, 2021, and TTS (Touch The Sky), released in September 2022.
Babo, whose real name Barbara Horn Teta, was born to a Rwandan mother and a German father. She is currently signed to 1K Entertainment, a record label owned by DJ Pius.
