Women councils start ‘Itorero’

GICUMBI – Members of the National Women Council from five districts of the Northern Province on Monday started the civic education and cultural training ‘Itorero’ at Byumba’s Groupe Scolaire Notre Dame Du Bon Conseil. A total of 379 women representatives from Gicumbi, Rulindo, Musanze, Gakenke and Burera have so far reported at the training site.

GICUMBI – Members of the National Women Council from five districts of the Northern Province on Monday started the civic education and cultural training ‘Itorero’ at Byumba’s Groupe Scolaire Notre Dame Du Bon Conseil.

A total of 379 women representatives from Gicumbi, Rulindo, Musanze, Gakenke and Burera have so far reported at the training site.

The provincial coordinator, Odette Bamurange said a total of 489 women representatives are expected to attend the training at the site.

"Each of the five districts is expected to send six women representatives from every sector to attend the training. The women representatives are drawn from religious denominations, cooperative societies and women associations among others,” she said.

According to Bamurange, the training will last three weeks. 
The participants will be trained on poverty eradication strategies, unity and reconciliation and good governance, she added.

"The lessons in different disciplines are being presented by provincial, district and government officials,” she said.
