HUYE – Local leaders in the country have been called upon to adopt a geospatial approach in making informed decisions. The call was made by experts from the National University of Rwanda’s Center for geographic information system and remote sensing (CGIS) on Monday during celebrations to mark world GIS Day.

The call was made by experts from the National University of Rwanda’s Center for geographic information system and remote sensing (CGIS) on Monday during celebrations to mark world GIS Day.
Prof. Jean Nduwamungu, the director of CGIS noted that GIS tools can be used in solving problems to do with natural resources management and land use.
"The centre is ready to work with local leaders in addressing challenges to do with land use,” said Nduwamungu.
Local leaders were upbeat about the advantages that come with the use of GIS technology.
"This scientific approach will make it easy to solve land dispute while enabling proper planning of available land, infrastructure and environmental management,” said Alexis Munyamfura, executive secretary of Mukura sector.
