NGOMA – The construction of a new market in Kibungo town, Ngoma district is in its final stages, an official has said.

According to the Executive Secretary of Kibungo sector, Silver Ngarambe, the new market is expected to end congestion that has characterised the old market.

"We have been experiencing problems of all sorts due to commotion caused by congestion. Some traders have had to sell their items outside the market due to lack of space,” he said.

Jeanne Uwamariya, a local trader said the opening of the market was long over due.

"This is the kind of a market we have been waiting for. But I don’t know why it delayed,” she said.

Richard Habiyakare, a banana trader, said all they need is a spacious market.

"Bananas take more space compared to other foodstuffs sold in market, we thus need a big market that can facilitate those of us who deal in fresh produces.”
