The beleaguered Croat fell out of favour after failing to qualify Rwanda to next year’s Africa Nations Cup (CAN) in Angola.
On Saturday, Ferwafa named a youthful 26-man team for the two-week tournament which kicks off this Sunday in Kenya.
Apart from Jean Mugiraneza (Migi), Haruna Niyonzima, Abbas Rassou, Didier Kapet, Eric Gasana [Mbuyu Twite], Kalisa Mao and goalkeepers Jean Ndoli and Jean Ndayishimiye (Bakame) who featured for Amavubi during the just concluded 2010 Nations Cup qualifiers, the rest of the players featured in the junior team which took part in the Africa Youth Championship held in January in Kigali.
Amavubi, who are seeded in Group B open their campaign against Somalia on November 29; play Eritrea on December 3 before tussling it out with tournament guests and Cosafa champions Zimbabwe on December 5.
All Group B matches will be played at Nyayo stadium.
The 33rd edition will be used as a build up to the 2011 CHAN and 2012 CAN.
Meanwhile, members of the Council for East and Central African Football Association (Cecafa) will be required to pay $1000 annual fee for 2010, according to the body’s Secretary General Nicholas Musonye.
The amount will be paid during the two-week
tournament.
