KIGALI - The Senate President, Dr. Vincent Biruta, arrived in the country yesterday with an award given to President Paul Kagame this week.

Kagame was presented with the ‘Most Innovative People Award for Economic Innovation’ at the just concluded Lebanon2020 Summit, organized by the Global Leadership Team.

Speaking at his office shortly after arriving from Lebanon, Dr. Biruta said that the Global Leadership team that organizes the summit chose Kagame as the best President worldwide in peace and reconciliation and economic innovation.

"President Kagame was chosen because of his innovation in the political and economic fields, especially the conducive way of doing business in Rwanda and good governance,” Biruta said. He added that Rwanda’s experience was welcomed as an inspiring experience originating from a unique leader.

He further said that the summit was aimed at grooming Lebanon to reach its vision of 2020 to have solved every problem by emulating countries that managed to become stable after going through civil strife.

The US based Global Leadership Team (GLT), is a consultancy firm that introduces innovative mindsets for some of the most pressing issues facing the world today.

"Many investors developed interest in our country and promised to come and invest in it,” Biruta said. He said that he would present the award to President Kagame who will personally unveil it to the public.

Kagame’s award is the latest in a series of international accolades he has won in recent times. The President is particularly recognised for lifting Rwanda from the ashes of the 1994 Genocide and turning it into a nation that currently inspires many countries, serving as a role model in various aspects.
