Rwandan comedian and radio personality Patrick Rusine staged the second edition of his comedy special, Inkuru ya Rusine, on Friday, August 30, at the French Institute, Rugando.

The show, themed "From Dude to Dad,” reflected on Rusine&039;s personal journey into fatherhood, mixing humor with reflections on family, love, and life settings.

It was his first major performance since becoming a father to his first born, Owen Mael Ntwali, and the content was inspired by his new role as a dad, his childhood memories, and his wife, Iryn Nizra Uwase, whom he credited as the backbone of both his family and career.

While at the stage with his usual drunk inspired style, Rusine’s jokes revolved around relatable experiences and that is childhood moments, the challenges of relationships, hustling through life, and the insecurities that come with being a short man in certain situations.

One of his jokes poked fun of the moment he and his wife were listing down essential items for their home. While Rusine expected household basics, his wife’s top priority was a hammer, something he humorously linked to the idea of "uko zubakwa,” or being ready to build.

Another joke touched on insecurities that men may feel. Rusine joked about accompanying his wife to see a gynecologist, who happened to be tall, handsome, intelligent, and an old friend of hers. He humorously pointed out how such situations require maturity, as the doctor "has every right to touch your wife whether you like it or not.”

The stories, though funny, carried undertones of maturity, growth, and the realities of family life.

The evening also featured fellow comedians Michael Sengazi, Babu Joe, and Kadudu, who warmed up the audience before Rusine took the stage. Singer Bill Ruzima and songstress Alyn Sano also performed, with Alyn giving a taste to the audience with hits such as Fake Gee, None, and Head.

Although comedian Clapton Kibonge was expected to perform, he could not make it due to unavoidable circumstances. Popular media personality Anita Pendo was the DJ, keeping the energy high throughout the night.

The show drew a crowd of fans, celebrities, and close family members. Notably, Rusine’s parents, who have not been seen together in years, were present to support him. Their presence, he said, "was a sign of acceptance and encouragement that every parent should show their children.”

Speaking after the event, Rusine expressed gratitude to his wife for her role in his transformation.

"She means a lot in my life,” he said. "Every impact and progress you can see is because of her. I’m now a calm man, happy, and blessed with a supportive wife. That’s the result.”

He said that his wife was the mastermind behind the show’s concept and organization.

"My wife is the one behind the idea, and I’m glad she organized it from scratch. Here we are now.”
