FORMER Sports minister Robert Bayigamba and Rwanda Tennis Federation (RTF) president Charles Rudakubana are said to be running for RNOC’s top seat-president.

Elections for the new executive will be held next Sunday according to the chairman of the electoral commission Charles Uyisenga.

For the post of 1st vice president, Phophina Muhimpundu Gashugi (ARDEMES) and Theogene Uwayo are in contention while Elie Manirora (NPC-Rwanda), Jean Paul Munyandamutsa (athletics federation) and David Mucyesha are vying for the post of 2nd vice president.

Parfait Busabizwa, Alex Mbaraga and Leo Pierre Nkusi are standing for the post of secretary general while Thierry Rwabusaza (Cycling federation) and Alain Christian Sekuru want the post of treasurer.

Initially, the elections were set for December 27 but after dissolving the Ignace Beraho led executive, they were brought forward to November 29 by the interim committee led by Aimable Bayingana.

The previous committee was dissolved by Sports and Culture minister Joseph Habineza on grounds of insubordination and overstaying in office.
