MUSANZE – Torrential water from Virunga Mountains has destroyed part of the main road from Ruhengeri to Cyanika border.

The water has for the last two days been flowing, forcing the road to submerge near Sonrise Secondary School in Cyuve sector, Musanze district. 

"We have to disembark from our motorcycles, fold the trousers and move bare foot,” one affected motorist said. "Crossing with luggage is a problem.” 

The Musanze vice Mayor, Winifred Mpembyemungu, attributed the problem of blockage to the heavy rains which destroyed the drainage system.
