Be responsible, keep Kigali City clean

Editor, I was dismayed when I came across a pool of urine along side one of the roads around town and wondered who could have done such a thing. Have our people given up on the keep ‘Kigali clean’ ideology, have they resorted to turning the streets into urinals and convenient toilets; comrades save the country the embarrassment.

With development comes cleanliness, even the roadsides shouldu2019t smell like toilets.

Editor,

I was dismayed when I came across a pool of urine along side one of the roads around town and wondered who could have done such a thing.

Have our people given up on the keep ‘Kigali clean’ ideology, have they resorted to turning the streets into urinals and convenient toilets; comrades save the country the embarrassment.

Kigali city has been ranked the cleanest city in the whole of Africa; it is not like elsewhere where the issue of the plastic bags has never been resolved.

If we can keep away from the evil of plastic bags, can’t we find toilets to dispose off our wastes and not along the road sides?

I have been disappointed so many times to find places around Kisementi stage smelling like a toilet. Is it done during day or at night when there is no shame in doing dirty things?

This is not only in the areas of Kisementi but elsewhere around the city. Should we take it that we don’t have enough public toilets or is it that people think the road side is the most convenient place to ease up?

Has the population grown so big that the ones we have can only serve a few of us and the rest should go visit the bushes by the road.

Probably, the government should consider increasing the number of public toilets to serve all the people that need to use them.

Let every busy stage have a toilet that will cater for the people urgent needs as they wait to board taxis to their destinations.

As we wait for something to be done let us be responsible citizens. Let us stay on top as the cleanest city and maintain the glory.
