Hip Hop Theatre Night
Institut Français Rwanda opens its doors this Friday, August 22, for Hip Hop Theatre Night. On stage will be United Cie from DR Congo with their acclaimed piece Au tour de la guitare, alongside Jean Paul Kyembwa, Kubasha Dance Group and Indaro Dance.
Expect a blend of movement, storytelling and rhythm in an evening that runs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Admission is Rwf5,000.
Moonlight Movie Night
A cozy night under the stars is on the way with the screening of La La Land, the story of love, ambition and the choices that define us. Bring friends or family, share a meal, and soak in the open-air magic. The screening takes place Friday, August 22, 7 p.m. at Mundi Center.
Entry is free, hosted by Lidish.
Betpawa Playoffs
Women’s basketball takes center stage Friday with Game 2 of the finals series as Kepler W meets REG W at 8:30 p.m.
Game 1 of the third-place series tips off earlier, with The Hoops Rwanda facing APR W at 6 p.m. Entry is Rwf3,000 for regular, Rwf5,000 for courtside and Rwf10,000 for front row. The series continues Sunday, all games at LDK.
Cave Frequency
Cave Frequency is back this Friday at Cave Coffee with a soundtrack of old-school soul, R&B, dancehall and urban grooves. DJs Kan and Ever of Ruffcuts DJz take the decks from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m.
Guests can enjoy 10 percent off beef and pork dishes plus a six-for-five deal on local beers. The venue is on KG 12 Avenue.
Kigali Heatwave
Kigali Heatwave takes over the stage this Saturday, August 23, with a lineup that promises fire. TheDiceKid, Kivumbi King and KidFromKigali bring their energy live from 8 p.m., with doors open 6 to 10 p.m.
Expect raw performances and the kind of atmosphere that defines the city’s music scene. Tickets are Rwf10,000.
Kigali Breaking Festival
Abatanguha Dance Company brings the Kigali Breaking Festival to Zaria Court this Saturday, August 23. The day features live music, free dance workshops, battles and showcases with performers from Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi, France, Uganda and DR Congo.
The celebration runs from 3 to 10 p.m., and admission is free.
Universe Boxing Championship
The gloves are up for Kigali’s biggest boxing night of the year. Fighters from Rwanda, Uganda and DR Congo step into the ring this Saturday, August 23, at Kigali Universe. The first bout begins at 4 p.m.
Tickets are Rwf5,000 for regular entry and Rwf15,000 for VIP.
Ride for Unity
This Sunday, August 24, Ride for Unity invites the public to join a special ride from the KCC roundabout to Zaria Court, marking the final stretch of the Ride to Reconnection tour. The ride sets off at 4 p.m., and registration is free.
The finish line celebration turns into a street party at Zaria Court, with food trucks, live shows, traditional dance, kids’ activities and a live DJ.
Kids Sip & Paint
Casa Keza in Kacyiru is hosting a kid-friendly Sip & Paint this weekend, Saturday, August 23, and Sunday, August 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children can enjoy storytelling, treasure hunts, games and educational activities. Admission is Rwf5,000, which includes a snack and drink, or Rwf10,000 for the paint-and-take canvas option.
