The Music in Space concert, originally scheduled to take place on August 23 at Kigali Conference and Exhibition Village (KCEV), has been postponed after event organiser and CEO Bjorn Vido experienced a sudden medical emergency.

The concert, part of the Music in Space World Tour, had drawn excitement throughout Rwanda and across the region where over 3,000 tickets had already been sold, according to the organising team.

Music revellers were eager to witness performances from a star-studded lineup featuring Rwandan artistes The Ben, Bushali, Kenny Sol, and Ariel Wayz, alongside other African musicians like South Africa's Buhle, Sir Trill, and Touchline, plus Uganda's Vampino and Sir Kisoro, among others.

However, in an official statement released on August 21, the organizers confirmed that the concert would not proceed as planned after Vido suffered two heart attacks and was placed in critical condition.

Doctors have since advised that he cannot participate in any activities until he makes a full recovery.

"Bjorn was not only the principal organizer but also an active contributor to the show’s content, including a short film on climate change and conservation, a special performance from him that was set to premiere during the Kigali edition,” the statement reads in part.

His absence, organisers say, makes it impossible to deliver the full experience promised to fans.

The Music in Space team expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support, acknowledging the disappointment of fans who had eagerly awaited the spectacle.

"We reassure ticket holders that all tickets will remain valid for the new date, which will be announced once new plans are finalized.”

For now, the organisers are asking fans and supporters to keep Bjorn and his family in their thoughts and prayers during his recovery.

Further details on the concert will be communicated in due course.
