The Rwanda FA has handed champions APR FC and rivals Rayon Sports a Rwf 200,000 fine each for failure to submit an agreement for the declared hosting venue.
The pair are among clubs granted license to play Rwanda Premier League in the 2025-26 season which kicks off in September.
Times Sport understands that the APR and Rayon Sports will host their homes matches at Kigali Pele Stadium but they didn’t submit the agreement with the venue management. Gicumbi FC were slapped the same fine as the club lacks the very similar requirement.
In general, only five clubs namely Amagaju FC, Marines FC, Rutsiro FC, Musanze FC and Police FC completed all required documentation and met the minimum requirements.
Meanwhile, 10 clubs were granted licenses but got sanctioned for administrative lapses.
For instance, AS Kigali failed to provide an official office address. Mukura VS submitted an expired physiotherapist’s license. AS Muhanga and SC Kiyovu both had the same individual serving as General Manager and CEO while Gasogi United and Gorilla failed to present contracts for their assistant coaches.
Only Bugesera FC were denied license over failure to submit a letter confirming medical insurance for players and officials. The club also didn’t submit the appointment of a medical doctor and licensing forms for the 2024/25 season instead of 2025/26 season.
