Kenya’s Harambee Stars produced a better display with 1–0 victory over Morocco in Nairobi on Sunday, August 10, to remain unbeaten at the ongoing CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024 despite playing an entire half with 10 men.

Ryan Ogam’s 42nd-minute strike proved decisive at a raucous Moi International Sports Centre on Sunday, as Benni McCarthy’s side defied the odds and ended Morocco’s unbeaten CHAN record to seize early control of Group A.

Ogam steered in the winner and McCarthy’s men then defended the lead with remarkable resolve after Chrispine Erambo’s red card—upgraded by VAR in first-half stoppage time—left the co-hosts with 10 men for the entire second half.

The result, following a 1–0 win over DR Congo and a 1–1 draw with Angola, lifts Kenya to seven points from three games and leaves them within touching distance of a historic quarter-final berth on their tournament debut.

Kaporal brace against Zambia fires Angola to second in Group A

Substitute Kaporal came off the bench to score twice in the final 11 minutes as Angola staged a stunning comeback to beat Zambia 2-1 and jump to second place in Group A.

The result breathes new life into the Palancas Negras’ campaign, lifting them to four points from three matches — three behind leaders Kenya — while Zambia remain rooted to the bottom without a point after two games.

The win kept their chances of qualifying for quarterfinals alive.

For Angola, the equation was simple: only a win will do. After a 2-0 loss to Morocco and a 1-1 draw against Kenya, they have just one point from two matches.
