Former Minister of State for Education Joseph Murekeraho has passed away at the age of 73.

A family member told The New Times that Murekeraho had been unwell since last week with a minor illness, but his condition deteriorated on Friday, August 8, the day he died.

He was being treated at Rwanda Military Hospital in Kigali.

Burial is scheduled for Thursday, August 14, although the date may change as some family members are yet to arrive.

Murekeraho served in various capacities, including State Minister in charge of Primary and Secondary Education, and later as chairman of Umwalimu SACCO.
