Meet Sandra – Rwanda’s music export

Sandra Karigirwa, 24, a Uganda based, Rwandan joined the music industry in 2003 and centralized herself mainly in the RnB flow and according to her, her music concept focuses more on social life. “I sing about love and social values such as unity in the society,” says Karigirwa.

Sandra Karigirwa, 24, a Uganda based, Rwandan joined the music industry in 2003 and centralized herself mainly in the RnB flow and according to her, her music concept focuses more on social life.

"I sing about love and social values such as unity in the society,” says Karigirwa.

She says that she was inspired by Jordan Sparks, whom she describes as, "An artist with talent”.

Karigirwa’s love for mothers prompted her to compose a song for mothers and has so far done a 14 song album dubbed ‘Nyina w’umuntu’.

Her second hit song is Umwuka in techno flow which she says is for young generation.

According to Karigirwa, the music industry in Rwanda has what it takes, and  she intends to come back home to continue pursuing her career.

Currently a student of Journalism in Uganda, Sandra plans to come back home to promote her music "I believe when you are at home nothing fails.”
