The cases were confirmed last Friday, the district health director, Jill Gahamanyi, told The New Times yesterday.
Medics at the hospital said that those infected are from Gihundwe, Kamembe and Nkanka sectors.

‘There are so far seven patients all under 15 years of age who have been confirmed as having contracted Swine flu since last Friday,” said a medical official who asked not to be named because is not authorised to speak to the press.

Various residents in Kamembe town who talked to The New Times expressed concerns over the outbreak of the disease.

District authorities have appealed to residents to seriously take precautionary measures for the purposes of curbing its spread.
