Electrogaz should shape up!

Editor, I want to further comment on a similar letter written by an aggrieved reader’s and recount my experience with Electrogaz, which I am sure has been experienced by others as well. We spent one whole month without receiving any drop of water from the Electrogaz lines, when it finally came it lasted for only a week and lo and behold, my bill for August was Rwf 300,000.

Electrogaz workers fixing pipes. Customers are complaining of poor services.

Editor,

I want to further comment on a similar letter written by an aggrieved reader’s and recount my experience with Electrogaz, which I am sure has been experienced by others as well.

We spent one whole month without receiving any drop of water from the Electrogaz lines, when it finally came it lasted for only a week and lo and behold, my bill for August was Rwf 300,000.

For a three bedroom house with 6 inhabitants and for only one week, this was unbelievable. When I sought for an explanation at the Electrogaz station, they told me that this phenomenon happens at times when the water pressure is high.

The water meters just can’t handle the pressure and they go into overdrive! In effect sometimes we pay for air, not water.

The issue is that when such a thing happens, Electrogaz never investigates.

They just take their meter readings as Gospel truth and should you fail to pay the amounts then not only your water but also your electricity will be cut off. I think we need another service provider for water and electricity to break this monopoly.

Mininfra please do something.
