RWAMAGANA - Plans are in advanced stages to construct a new taxi park in Rwamagana town, authorities have said.
The old taxi park had temporarily been relocated to another spot, far from the town centre, prompting complaints from both taxi operators and passengers.

"We have made losses, since there are no passengers coming to this remote part of the town. The district authorities have done us great disservice, by relocating the park to a less strategic place,” François Rusine, ATRACO representative in Rwamagana said.

Talking to The New Times yesterday, the district Mayor, Valens Ntezirembo, explained that the construction was delayed because the district had not secured a plot for the park.

"Taxi operators are too impatient to understand that someone is doing them some service in this regard.

We have been negotiating with a certain resident in order to acquire his plot of land needed for the newly proposed taxi park, the Mayor said. "Surprisingly before we get to terms, complaints are growing out of proportion.”
